CrispCheckout alternative
What CrispCheckout offers and charges according to its own site, what it does well, and how Pendym differs: no monthly fee, subscriptions included, and a checkout in 18 languages.

CrispCheckout and Pendym do the same core job: they replace a Shopify store's checkout page with one that charges cards through the merchant's own Whop account, then write the paid order back into Shopify. If you are comparing them, the differences are in price, in what is included, and in a few features each has that the other does not. Everything said about CrispCheckout here comes from its own website as it read on 19 September 2026.
What CrispCheckout is
CrispCheckout describes itself as a branded Shopify checkout powered by Whop. Its site says one script tag on your storefront swaps Shopify's default checkout for your CrispCheckout page, and that when a Whop payment succeeds the paid order is created in your Shopify admin through the API. It says setup takes about 10 minutes from signup to live.
What CrispCheckout costs
| Plan | Price on its site | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Demo | $0 | The full checkout builder and unlimited test orders, with no card required |
| Starter | $99 a month plus 0.5% per order | Live payments through your own Whop, one-time purchases, bumps and upsells, custom domain, pixels, refunds |
| Pro | $199 a month plus 0.5% per order | Subscriptions |
Card processing is charged by Whop at your own Whop rate, the same as with Pendym.
What CrispCheckout does well
- A free demo tier where you can build and preview the whole checkout and run test orders before paying anything.
- A conversion-focused builder: its site lists testimonials, ratings, badges, a guarantee, a countdown timer, an FAQ block and raw HTML.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay are listed as native wallets in its checkout.
- Its subscription tier lists free trials, dunning emails for failed payments, and a self-serve portal where customers pause or cancel.
- Server-side pixels for Meta, TikTok and Google Analytics, and one-click refunds.
If free trials, a customer subscription portal or countdown timers are central to how you sell, check those against Pendym carefully, because CrispCheckout lists them and Pendym does not claim all of them.
How Pendym differs
| CrispCheckout (per its site) | Pendym | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | $99, or $199 with subscriptions | None |
| Per-order fee | 0.5% | 0.5%, billed to a verified card, never taken from your payout |
| Subscriptions | On the $199 Pro plan | Included. Shopify selling plans become recurring Whop plans |
| Shopify connection | One script tag. How the store is authorised is not described on its home page | A small app you create in your own Shopify Dev Dashboard, plus one line in theme.liquid |
| Pricing at checkout | Not described on its home page | Quoted live from Shopify: shipping rates, tax, discount codes, Markets currencies |
| Custom checkout domain | Yes | Yes, one CNAME record |
| Checkout languages | Not published | 18, following the buyer's storefront language |
| Free trial of the builder | Yes, a $0 demo tier | No monthly fee at all, and nothing changes for buyers until you paste the theme line |
On price alone: a store doing $10,000 a month pays 0.5%, which is $50, with either tool. CrispCheckout adds $99 or $199 a month on top, and Pendym adds nothing. The per-order fee is identical, so the monthly fee is the whole difference, and it matters most to small stores and to stores selling subscriptions.
A word on holds and reserves
Some marketing in this space suggests that running payments through Whop means funds can never be held. We will not say that, because Whop's own documentation says otherwise: Whop reviews accounts, can freeze payouts when a merchant cannot show what they are selling, and places rolling or fixed reserves on accounts it considers risky, including new accounts with little history. For many merchants Whop is a good home. It is still a payments company with rules.
Whichever checkout you pick, the money runs through Whop, and Whop has its own rules. It publishes a list of prohibited and restricted businesses, it reviews accounts at several points including first payment and first payout, and it can place a rolling or fixed reserve on an account it considers risky. No checkout tool in front of Whop changes that, and none is a way to sell something a processor does not allow.
What Pendym does not do
- It is not a Shopify payment gateway. It replaces the checkout page.
- The Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay express buttons in your cart are hidden while it is on.
- Shopify gift cards cannot be redeemed at the Pendym checkout.
- It does not list free trials or a customer self-serve subscription portal. Plans are cancelled from the Pendym dashboard.
- It is a young product. If you only adopt software with a long track record, wait.
There is no monthly fee to try it. Connect Whop, verify a card with a $1 hold that is released, connect Shopify, and paste one line into your theme when you are ready.

Questions people ask
- What is CrispCheckout?
- CrispCheckout describes itself as a branded Shopify checkout powered by Whop. A script tag on your storefront sends buyers to a CrispCheckout page instead of Shopify's checkout, the card is charged through your own Whop account, and the paid order is created in your Shopify admin.
- How much does CrispCheckout cost?
- On 19 September 2026 its site listed a free Demo tier for building and test orders, Starter at $99 a month plus 0.5% per order to take live payments, and Pro at $199 a month plus 0.5% for subscriptions. Whop's own processing fees are separate.
- How is Pendym priced compared with CrispCheckout?
- Both charge 0.5% per order. Pendym has no monthly fee and includes subscriptions, while CrispCheckout's site lists $99 a month, or $199 a month with subscriptions. Pendym bills its fee to a card you verify during setup rather than taking it from your Whop payout.
- Does CrispCheckout support other languages?
- Its website did not mention checkout translations when we checked, so we list that as not published. Pendym's checkout is translated into 18 languages and follows the language the buyer was browsing the store in.
- Does using Whop through either tool mean my funds cannot be held?
- No. Whop's own documentation says it reviews accounts, can freeze payouts when a merchant cannot prove what they sell, and places reserves on accounts it considers risky. A checkout tool in front of Whop does not change that.
