Lasso checkout alternative for Shopify and Whop
What Lasso does, what Whop's documentation said about its pricing and approval process, and how Pendym differs, for Shopify stores that want card payments to run through their own Whop account.
Updated 19 September 2026 · 7 minute read
Lasso is a checkout platform that connects a Shopify store to Whop's payments, and it is the one Whop wrote an integration guide for. If you are looking for an alternative, it is usually for one of three reasons: the monthly cost per store, the approval step before you can go live, or a need it does not list, such as a translated checkout. This page sets out what is publicly known about Lasso, says what it does well, and explains how Pendym differs so you can choose on facts.
A note on sources. Lasso's own website did not load when we checked on 19 September 2026, so nothing here is taken from it. What follows comes from the integration guide for Lasso that Whop published in its documentation. That page has since been removed from Whop's docs, so we read the copy archived in April 2026, which is linked at the end. Details may have changed since then. Confirm anything that matters with Lasso directly.
What Lasso is
Whop's guide described Lasso as a checkout platform that connects your Shopify store to Whop's payment infrastructure, independent of Shopify Payments. Your storefront stays on Shopify, the buyer pays on a Lasso checkout on a subdomain of your store, and the charge runs through your Whop business.
How Lasso connects Shopify and Whop
- 1Create a Lasso account, then create a Whop business for physical products and complete Whop's identity verification.
- 2Go through Lasso's onboarding, which connects Whop and Shopify, and build your payment page and confirmation page.
- 3Wait for approval. Whop's guide said the Lasso and Whop team reviews and approves each store, and listed the screenshots asked for: the last 90 days of revenue, your chargeback rate, and your shipping and delivery performance.
- 4Once approved, add a CNAME record named checkout at your domain host, and paste Lasso's install code into theme.liquid, in a duplicate theme first.
What Lasso costs, as far as it is published
Lasso's current pricing is not published anywhere we could load. The archived Whop guide listed Lasso at a 1% transaction fee plus $199 a month per store, with each additional store also $199 a month, on top of Whop's own card processing fees. Treat those figures as what Whop's documentation said in April 2026, not as a current quote.
What Lasso does well
- It is the integration Whop itself documented, with a named onboarding path and Whop staff involved in approval. For a large store that wants a relationship with Whop's team, that is worth something.
- The archived guide described negotiated terms for high-volume stores with low dispute rates, including the possibility of no reserve.
- It listed one-click post-purchase upsells and integrations with Meta's Conversions API, WeTracked, Triple Whale and Klaviyo.
- Search results for Lasso's site describe connections to more than 20 payment processors, so it is not limited to Whop. If you want to route between several processors, that is something Pendym does not do.
How Pendym differs
| Lasso (per archived Whop guide) | Pendym | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | $199 per store | None |
| Per-order fee | 1% | 0.5%, billed to a verified card, never taken from your payout |
| Before you go live | Store review and approval by the Lasso and Whop team | No review by Pendym. Whop's own verification still applies |
| Shopify connection | Lasso's onboarding flow plus theme code | A small app you create in your own Shopify Dev Dashboard, plus one line in theme.liquid |
| Custom checkout domain | Yes, a checkout CNAME is part of setup | Optional, one CNAME record |
| Subscriptions | Not published | Shopify selling plans become recurring Whop plans, renewals create Shopify orders |
| Checkout languages | Not published | 18, following the buyer's storefront language |
| Other processors | More than 20, per Lasso's site description | Whop only |
The practical difference for a small or new store is the fixed cost and the wait. With no monthly fee, a store doing $5,000 a month pays Pendym $25. The practical difference for a large store may run the other way: a negotiated relationship with Whop's team can matter more than the software fee.
What neither tool changes
Whichever checkout you pick, the money runs through Whop, and Whop has its own rules. It publishes a list of prohibited and restricted businesses, it reviews accounts at several points including first payment and first payout, and it can place a rolling or fixed reserve on an account it considers risky. No checkout tool in front of Whop changes that, and none is a way to sell something a processor does not allow.
What Pendym does not do
- It is not a Shopify payment gateway. It replaces the checkout page.
- The Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay express buttons in your cart are hidden while it is on.
- Shopify gift cards cannot be redeemed at the Pendym checkout.
- It works with Whop only. It does not route between processors.
- It is a young product. If you only adopt software with a long track record, wait.
Setup is four steps: connect Whop, verify a card with a $1 hold that is released, connect Shopify with a small app you create, and paste one line into your theme.
Start setupNo monthly fee. Live in about 15 minutes.

Questions people ask
- What is Lasso checkout?
- Lasso is a checkout platform that connects a Shopify store to Whop's payments. Whop's own integration guide described it as connecting your Shopify store to Whop's payment infrastructure, independent of Shopify Payments. The storefront stays on Shopify and the buyer pays on a Lasso checkout on a subdomain of the store.
- How much does Lasso checkout cost?
- Lasso's current pricing is not published on any page we could load on 19 September 2026. Whop's integration guide for Lasso, as archived in April 2026, listed a 1% transaction fee plus $199 a month per store, on top of Whop's card processing fees. Confirm the current figure with Lasso.
- Does Lasso require approval before going live?
- According to Whop's archived guide, yes. It said the Lasso and Whop team reviews and approves each store, and asked for screenshots of the last 90 days of revenue, chargeback rate, and shipping and delivery performance. Pendym has no review step of its own, though Whop's identity verification applies either way.
- What is the main difference between Lasso and Pendym?
- Cost structure and scope. Pendym has no monthly fee and charges 0.5% per order billed to a verified card, has no approval step of its own, and ships a checkout in 18 languages with subscriptions. Lasso, per Whop's archived guide, charged 1% plus $199 a month per store and involved Whop's team in onboarding, and its site describes connections to more than 20 processors, which Pendym does not offer.
- Will switching from Lasso to another checkout avoid Whop's reserves or rules?
- No. The payments still run through your Whop account, so Whop's prohibited business list, account reviews and reserve policy apply whichever checkout sits in front of it.
